Artist Sun Li, currently residing in Foshan, Guangdong, graduated from the Oil Painting Department of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and is currently pursuing a master's degree at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. During her studies, she received numerous scholarships and honors, including the "Shangyi Innovation" Scholarship from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, the National Inspirational Scholarship, and the Excellent Award at the Hong Kong Youth Art Prize.

 

Her works have been exhibited in several major exhibitions, both national and regional, including the 2023 "Mali Art Scholarship Exhibition," the "Li Luogong Art Scholarship Exhibition," the "Measured People" Contemporary Art Invitational Exhibition, and the "Great Beauty of Nature · Poetic Life" Themed Exhibition at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts; the 2024 "Moment" Contemporary Art Exhibition at Guangzhou Morning Space; the "[Different · Art After Waves]—Excellent Graduation Works Exhibition of the Five Major Chinese Art Academies" at the Different CIRCLE Art Center in Qinhuangdao, Hebei; and the "New Forces—National Outstanding Graduate Recommendation Exhibition" at Beijing He Art Museum.

"I am deeply influenced by the artistic concepts and landscape paintings of the 18th-century German Romantic artist Caspar David Friedrich. I no longer focus on depicting external realities and details, but instead turn my attention to the inner world, guided by sensuality. I explore the metaphors and expressions of emotions in human nature. In my creations, I independently represent landscapes as combinations of color and tone, creating an abstract imaginative space. Through metaphors, symbols, and narrative forms, I explore the relationship between individuals and nature, reflect on the meaning of life, and express reverence and curiosity toward nature and the universe." — Artist's Creative Statement.
