Lan Ping is a contemporary visual artist, freelance writer, and curator who graduated from the Sichuan Conservatory of Music and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. He currently works and resides in Beijing and Chengdu. Lan has collaborated with institutions such as Tokyo Gallery + BTAP, Hi Art, and the Silk Road Huaxing Art Center.
His exhibitions and curatorial projects include Flow State at FOR Mi Art Space (Beijing) and the 3rd Young Artists Club Group Exhibition (Chengdu Xu Liaoyuan Art Museum) in 2023, Future Artists at Art Meets Future (Shenzhen) and the Ali Oasis large-scale thematic exhibition (Beijing) in 2022, the Silk Road Huaxing Art Center Young Artists Invitational Exhibition (Beijing) in 2021, Art Shenzhen at Hi Art Space (Shenzhen) in 2020, the 2nd Young Thinkers: Courage and Freedom (Shanghai Zhangjiang Art Museum) in 2018, Additive Art at Black Bridge Space (Beijing) and Big Scatter Art Together at Hongmen Gallery (Beijing) in 2016, Young Thinkers: Courage and Freedom at Imperial City Art Museum (Beijing) in 2015, the Ai You Life Festival Artist Micro Exhibition (Beijing International Design Week Project) in 2015, the Wu Yu: Chinese Contemporary Young Artists Invitational Exhibition at 798 Han Art Space (Beijing) in 2015, and the Nanjing International Art Exhibition (Nanjing) in 2014.
Lan Ping's works have received significant recognition. He was awarded the Painting Grand Prize at the 2019 Baolong Art Exhibition Beautiful Home, with his works entering the Baolong Art Institute collection. Additionally, he earned the Nominee Award for Young Artists at the 2016 Beijing Youth Art Biennale and the 2024 Asia Art Grand Award.
Lan believes that the essence of art lies in independence and freedom. Through artistic creation, individuals achieve spiritual tranquility and emotional resonance while engaging with the external environment. True art transcends surface appearances and rational cognition, establishing a profound connection with the viewer’s soul. It evokes a vital energy and awakens a deeper consciousness.
