Details:
b.1994, Qingdao, China
Zhang Xiaofang, born in 1994 in Qingdao, Shandong, is a young artist who holds a master’s degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts, Rome, Italy. Her work explores the relationship between individuals and society, expressing inner emotions and societal influences. Through childlike imagery, Zhang reflects social issues and creates the fantastical world of "Hollow Monsters."
In this world, she delves into the relationship between the materialized world and life, as well as the struggles and searches of the individual. The figure of FAFA symbolizes courage and resilience in the face of the material world, while the "Illusion Series" features "manipulated" toys that reflect the fate of small lives. Zhang Xiaofang’s works encourage the audience to reflect on the relationship between material and life, exploring the existence and meaning of consciousness in a materialized world.
