Artist Li Xuesong

Details:

b.1990, Shandong, China

Li Xuesong, born after 1980, is one of the leading representatives of contemporary young artists. His artistic creations, characterized by a strong personal style and an in-depth exploration of ink painting, reflect a dialogue and fusion between tradition and modernity. He is currently a member of the Contemporary Ink Art Committee of the Shandong Artists Association, a member of the Shandong Youth Artists Association, and a member of the 90s Creative Painting Society. He also serves as the secretary-general of the National Painting Guild. Active at the forefront of both domestic and international art exhibitions, he is a signed artist at the Wu Guanzhong Art Museum. With his profound artistic cultivation and continuous innovative practice, he has presented many thought-provoking works to his audience.

Li Xuesong’s works have garnered wide attention in both domestic and international exhibitions. His exhibition history is extensive. In 2024, he held a solo exhibition, New Artistic Horizons – New Works of Shandong Artists, at the Shandong Art Museum, showcasing his recent achievements in the field of ink art. In 2023, he participated in the annual exhibition of the 90s Creative Painting Society, Mountains and Rivers Endless, held at the Loudi City Art Museum in Hunan. This exhibition highlighted the collective efforts of him and other post-90s artists to promote the development of contemporary art. Additionally, his collaboration with the Palace Museum in Beijing to release the Five Cows NFT bridged the gap between traditional and digital art, marking an important step in the emerging art field.

In his creations, Li Xuesong uses the language of contemporary ink art to express his reflections on nature, life, and time. His works blend the spirit of traditional Chinese landscape painting with modern painting techniques, preserving the brushwork tradition of Chinese art while incorporating experimental elements of contemporary art. This inclusive creative approach allows viewers to appreciate the continuity of traditional art while experiencing his reflections and expressions of modern life.
